In this article, it is reported that Sony had stopped to produce Sony Walkman which is portable cassette-playing audio device.
Sony Walkman was released in 1979 and 220 million units were
sold in the world.
It can be said as ' a 1980s icon no less memorable than shoulder pads'.The biggest achievement is that people have been able to enjoy music not only at home but also everywhere such as in a bus and walking.
On the other hand, it have emerged a phenomenon; sound
leaking in the public space.
I do not have the Walkman for playing cassette tape but
there were many people around me to use Walkman of mp3, so I am familiar with
the name.
Nowadays, it is replaced by new portable audio device such
as iPod and iPhone.
I think Sony have great technology in the term of design and quality of
sound, however, they fell behind other companies on the point of establishing a network
platform like iTunes, where people can buy music as well as listen to that.
To tell the truth, Sony has the platform like iTunes now, but it has not been
popularized because the digital devices,
in which the platform can be installed, have not been defused in the world. I assume Sony should creat a innovative strategy for the global market not only for Japan in order to survive in the filed of music devices.
In addition, it is interesting that the manner has changed in a society according to emergence of new technology. For example, people are careful not to cause sound leakage when they listen to music in public transportation because it makes other passangers feel uncomfortable.
This can be recognized as one of the manner.
This can be recognized as one of the manner.
In Japan, it is considered talking mobile phone in public trasportation is breach of etiquette.
'The insolent fellow! Put your mobile phone on vibrate in the train!'
However, it differs accourding to countries. In fact, there is no problem if we speak to a person on the mobile phone in public transportation in UK.

What do you think about a person who leaks music from the headphones and talks by the mobile phone in the bus?

Searching for my son - posted by Kyomin
This is a story about one American veteran who has taken part in Vietnam war. His name is Jerry Quinn and he has come to Vietnam to find his son with Hung Phan who is a Vietnamese assistant and interpreter.
Jerry is one of about two million American soldiers who have sent to support the South Vietnamese army against the North during the war. At that time, he met a Vietnamese girl named Brandy and she was pregnant in 1973. Unfortunately, when the Vietcong entered Saigon which is the old name of Ho Chi Minh City in 1975, he had to leave Vietnam regardless of his will. He says "I tried to keep in touch", "I sent her hundred bucks every month for a year. I never know whether she got it." He could just get three photos from Brandy. What he knows about her is only the house number 40 which he lived with her and her name. Although he went to the house with Hung Phan and try to ask people about Brandy, he couldn't get information about her current state.
Next, he went to Fathers Founded, which is a not-for-profit organisation that puts fathers together with their "Amerasian" children who were born between American and Asian. They said that Amerasian children usually were in the street begging for food and help. Also, the Vietnamese treated Amerasian children cruelly because the Vietnamese thought Amerasian children were the children of the enemy. In addition, they mentioned that some fathers don't want to know their children with the response in the following. "Why are you calling? What do you want? Why are you talking about Vietnam? I don't want to have anything to do with that bastard. He's not my son. She's not my daughter. Stop calling me!" However, when Jerry was sent to work in Taiwan lately, he thought it was a chance to do my duty which God gave me.
Jerry posted the photos of Brandy and his baby to Facebook with comments that he is looking for a 40 year old man called Bui which is Brandy's family name. And then, he could receive calling from Gary Bui who is in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jerry went to Albuquerque soon and he wondered that he would accept me as a father. Finally, he found his son and Gary's story emerged that Brandy abandoned her baby because of threats of Vietcong troops. Gary was taken to America as part of a programme for Amerasian children by the US government and brought up by foster parents. Jerry said "I know it is late, but I want to be in your life."
When I read this article, I became to remind Amerasian who are living in Korea. While they grow up in Korea, they might suffer from similar problems with Gary. My personal view is that both Jerry and Gary may be victims of war because they cannot escape from this memory during their whole lifetime to get back their lives. I suppose that there are this kind of many victims around the world who need cares and concerns by the society.

3D printing: A force for revolutionary change ---kiki
Introduction
Following our media time line, we know that 3D printing technology appears nearly 30 years ago. The technology works by building up layer upon layer of material - typically plastic - to build complex solid objects.
BBC news story
When the author knew 3D printing technology, he was very excited, but years later, this technology are stopping his enthusiasm. In the past, we needed to draw the image on a computer screen and across many complex process transform to 3D printer and take weeks or months of the design process.
Now it is changing. Because better techniques and materials are turning 3D printers into manufacturing operations. It reduces the need for factories production lines, warehouses, transport around the world from production centre. People might print up many things in a neighbourhood print shop. It leads to some drawbacks, a student create a gun using 3D printing.
The author think 3D printer might become more individual, more local and more flexible, just as personal computing transformed the computer industry. 3D printing is going to have quite a part in the revolution.
My opinion
Nowadays, many people pursue 3D visual effects, such as, 3D movie, 3D television and 3D printing. 3D printing become more popular and there are many dramatic information relate to it, such as ideas to use printer to make clothes, firearms and the parts of a house. This is a big step of media technology development. It provide a more reality media world. But 3D printing might potentially hazardous if people abuse it.

Digital technology means development is now happening outside the system== Aida
The news story is talking about the internet and mobile phones ownership and how they rose dramatically leading to thriving societies in each spot in the world.
In the past years, if you wanted a career in development you would have to be a teacher or a doctor or build dams. But now, the spread of the internet and the march of mobile phones have changed that all.
Nowadays, any one with a computer and internet connection could build an app in their bedroom that helps to improve lives of people around the world.
There is a story mentioned in this article which is about Brji Kothari, he was watching a Spanish movie and the subtitles were in English. An idea appeared to his mind, what if the subtitles were in Spanish too?
Turning attention to home, he wondered whether India could become literate if Bollywood made Hindi films with Hindi subtitles too.
The idea behind same language subtitles -SLS- was born, and million of children in primary schools are learning basic by watching their favorite T.V shows.
Summary
There are many more examples like this which have led to the development of mobile data collection tools, crowd sourcing services, solar lighting for maternity wards, or communications platforms for community healthcare workers – ideas which are collectively benefiting hundreds of millions of people.
Every thing begins from a simple idea, and with the development of media we can develop our ideas too and spread them out side the system to make a better life for the human and to make the world a better place.

Short news in INSTAGRAM-----Starry
Instagram a free online social application of pictures and short video sharing, released in October 2010. It is allows users to use a smart phone photograph and then add different filter effects to the pictures, and then share to Facebook, Twitter, and so forth. On April 10, 2012, Facebook announced a $1 billion deal to buy instagram.
The British broadcasting corporation (BBC), begin to attempt to launch on sets a short video news servicecalled "Instafax". Through 15 seconds of the video, the BBC will provide a summary of important news, if the user needs to understand the details of the news, will be quoted to the BBC website.
According to reports, in terms of using them to provide news, the BBC is not the first one who use instagram. Earlier, another company called NowThisNews through them also provide news on the instagram, but there is no doubt that the BBC is the biggest and most influential broadcasting corporation.
My point:
With the popularity of mobile devices, the traditional news reader, gradually abandoned the newspapers, magazines and other print media, steering by mobile phone and tablet to get news, the news on mobile terminals are also from text images to video and other media development. In addition, nowadays we receive a lots of informations than before, we don't have much time to go from the vast amounts of information in one by one to screening point, we need information summary, the title of the news is very important. So the news brief, to touch it will inevitably become a trend, in other words, audience can choose whether to read the information in more detail. The information of the video, Relative to the text, viewers are more inclined to watch the video. Because the video relative to the text, it is more vivid, more image. The video information will gradually become a trend.

The Radio Star – never be killed -- By Hilda
“ Video killed the Radio
Star” by The Buggles, when the first music video was played in 1981.
Recently, the development of technology
like TV, the cassette tape, the CD and the iPod, which is seems to kill the
radio.
However, all of them are
failed.
What make you surprising is “ there are plenty of venture capitalists betting big
that good old,
the steam- age radio cannot just survive but
thrive” by the writer.
David Grossman mentioned that the radio listening figures keep
remarkable well.
Nowadays, the apps of the
smartphone can receive signal from all over the world, anyone can tune in to the radio. However,
consider about the local medium, the ads fees are sold locally, listeners on
the other side of the world might not interested in it, meanwhile, they need to
focus on the expensive network fees and battery life of the mobile phone.
Therefore, the “Ad transformation” and give the audience a chance to feedback, which is
help to solve the problem.
The writer said, "People want to be connected with other people,
they want to be part of a tribe, they want to be accepted and that's what radio
brings." So the radio can survives due to the audience value it.
My opinion
For the modern society, it is
true that people listening radio has been decreased because the technology
developed. However, the old people still like to use the old-fashion radio to
listen the news. The writer mentioned that although the FM-based platform may
be instead by the digital switchover in the UK, the minister suggested, “ the FM signal may not be switched
off until at least the end of the decade.” Therefore, I assume that the radio can survives and thrives well.
From the angle of protecting the invention, the radio should be survived.
