Film review —— IF Simon

LUOJIA QIU    SIMON

The background of this film is based on Paris student movement. However, the story of film happened in the UK by 1968. While, the early British boarding system has been criticized by this film in extent.

British boarder system was criticized by this film, which introduced pretense, violence and prejudice in English school. The students from higher grade with violence bullied the young students from lower grade, while, young students resisted hegemony and students from higher grade.

Although I do not know much about British history, I can understand the reason from researching with Internet. The film reflects an idea that people with background of bygone era challenged to the authority. Reason of that is self-evident that this movie director wanted to reflect the circumstances and make more people understand the history.

The language of camera, structure and color of screen were focused by me due to the fact that I studied new media art when I was in the university in China. Fundamental of this film were darker,  by which director wanted to produce some complex emotion and humanity. However, some colorful pictures crossed with the black and white picture from this film, which brought a sense of oppressive.

Not only was development of plot very compact, but also actors perform well. I think good editing is the soul of the movie and I like this film of style.
