TRAINSPOTTING--------Vera

Trainspotting is a British film that was adapted from the book by Irvine Welsh by the director Danny Boyle. The film shows the lives of a group of Edinburgh heroin addicts and describes a kind of cultural phenomenon in Britain in 1996.
Trainspotting tells the story of a group of British young people, they take drugs, robbery, destruction and nothing to do, but they are so enjoyed with the erosion state of life, they don't want to think things what they can't change and they also escape all specification and responsibility, they despise all the normal social order.
I think the main thing of this film is choice. Different choice has different result. At the beginning, the leading role said he doesn’t want to make a choice about life, but finally he made a choice to use a betrayal to stop his depraved life to start a new life.

The film is a black comedy, at times hilarious, tragic, surreal, brutal and uplifting. There are lots of scenes impressively such as the description of feeling after taking drugs. The film doesn't condemn drug addicts, but it is probably more effective than any amount of preachy moralizing because it described the devastating consequences that can happen to drug users. Maybe just because of this unusual way that is very direct can give people acceptable education and let them envisage the problem of rebellion.

Rebellion can be saw very clearly in this film. It full of drug, violence and crime. At the end of the film, that is not a right-minded way to use betrayal to restart the leading role’s life. Maybe this is a sharp satire on the society.

    2. Think more deeply! What life does Renton choose? Why does he choose this life? What are his options? Why doesn't he choose something else? Is it life he chooses or a "life sentence" (check this!)? WHat does this say about the themes and social background of the film? Do all his friends make the same choice? What are the results of this choice? Is it good advice? Research the background. I dont think you will fully understand this film as a Chinese without doing this.
