3D printing: A force for revolutionary change ---kiki
Introduction
Following our media time line, we know that 3D printing technology appears nearly 30 years ago. The technology works by building up layer upon layer of material - typically plastic - to build complex solid objects.
BBC news story
When the author knew 3D printing technology, he was very excited, but years later, this technology are stopping his enthusiasm. In the past, we needed to draw the image on a computer screen and across many complex process transform to 3D printer and take weeks or months of the design process.
Now it is changing. Because better techniques and materials are turning 3D printers into manufacturing operations. It reduces the need for factories production lines, warehouses, transport around the world from production centre. People might print up many things in a neighbourhood print shop. It leads to some drawbacks, a student create a gun using 3D printing.
The author think 3D printer might become more individual, more local and more flexible, just as personal computing transformed the computer industry. 3D printing is going to have quite a part in the revolution.
My opinion
Nowadays, many people pursue 3D visual effects, such as, 3D movie, 3D television and 3D printing. 3D printing become more popular and there are many dramatic information relate to it, such as ideas to use printer to make clothes, firearms and the parts of a house. This is a big step of media technology development. It provide a more reality media world. But 3D printing might potentially hazardous if people abuse it.

This is a topic what I have been interested in. Recently, I heard that many companies tries to invest in 3D printing technologies for the next generation even the company which is not relevant to printing developments. When I see this kind of developments, I usually think that it is really difficult to predict the future lifestyle. In my view, this technology would play a variety of roles in many kinds of fields like what mobile has replaced many devices, such as mp3, online banking, booking tickets, etc.
ReplyDelete3D printing is so popular topic at present. My friend was worked on this part and he said 3D printing have a huge market potential, such as military, medical instruments and scientific research.
ReplyDeleteHowever, this new technique exist both advantage and disadvantage according to using different areas. As you say 3D printing can produce gun which is a threaten for people. On the other hand, this technology was less be used by normal people because of the high cost.
