      "Margaret" is Margaret Thatcher, who was British Prime Minister from 1979-1990."Stand down margaret"is was released in 1980,this period was Margaret Thatcher's year.The conservative party won a general election on 3rd May 1979, Margaret thatcher became prime minister, became the first woman prime minister in British history.Dave Wakeling of The English Beat explains: "The late '70s in England were troubled times: high unemployment, secession, the fear of nuclear war breaking out, the kind of fantasy end-of-the-century, end-of-the-world kind of feeling. And Margaret Thatcher came on, kind of like the last great hope of the British Empire. Margaret Thatcher believed in monetary theory, after sweeping reforms. She basically take four measures, the first one was privatization, the second one was the control of the money, the third one was to cut down welfare spending, the last one is against the union forces. Her austerity in order to reduce inflation, making unemployees and bankruptcies have increased.She was a woman who with huge controversial and had been resisted by British Left wings.Supporters said she solved the Britain economic problems, improve the British international status;Opponents argued that she is a real dictator, egomaniacs and almost destroyed the British welfare system.
